Avon Horse Riding Centre
Avon Riding Centre is a leading charity dedicated to the provision of riding tuition and therapy to adults and children with all kinds of disability in a purpose built Centre, nestled in 100 acres of pasture and woodland within the City of Bristol

We offer first class riding tuition on a regular basis to both disabled and non-disabled clients who benefit from the high quality facilities that the Centre has to offer. In total, the Centre provides around 12,000 hours of individual rides each year.

BALP Weekly Sports Sessions
The Bristol Active Life Project (BALP) offers a variety of activity sessions across Bristol. The sessions are designed for people who have experienced or are living with a long-term mental illness.

BALP is a partnership between The Football Foundation, Bristol City Council, Avon and Wiltshire Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP), Sports and Leisure Management Limited and local voluntary sector organisations.

Bristol MusicSpace provides a community-based music therapy service for children, young people and adults in Bristol and the surrounding area.

Our team of state-registered music therapists is currently working with around 400 people each week at our well-equipped centre in Bristol and at our bases in Bath and Gloucester. We also provide an outreach service in a wide range of other settings from early years centres to residential homes.

Bristol Street Games
Street Games Bristol is ran as a partnership project between Bristol City Council and the 2nd Chance Project to provide ‘doorstep’ sport for young people living in Bristol’s most deprived areas. The partnership supports a range of community organisations with a view of developing sports activities and a range of development opportunities for young people, their workforce and local communities.

Charlotte's Tandems
We lend tandems to (and only to) people with disabilies or special needs for free, who are unable to ride a bike safely on their own, so that they can enjoy the wonders of cycling. Sorry, our tandems are not for paid hire or available to non disabled people, for charity rides, no matter how worthy the cause. Our borrowers all been both children and adults. Tandems are a fun and safe way to get out and about as friends, a couple, family or group.
We have been lucky to get lots of tandems donated and grants to buy more, so if you would like to borrow one or have a tandem or components to donate then please contact Alex. We are in based in Gloucestershire, have outposts in Essex, Warwickshire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, the South East and Eddinburgh and are hoping to spread out to other places in the UK.

Getting About Greater Bristol
Access to places in the Greater Bristol region is continually improving, thanks in part to the impact of the Disability Discrimination Act. At the same time improvements are being made to make public transport accessible to disabled people. However, there is still much that needs to be done to make all transport equally accessible, so this website has been produced to help you find out how to get around the area if you are less mobile or disabled.

National Autistic Society (Bristol Branch Details)
National Autistic Society Bristol Branch is a parent-led voluntary group who meet regularly to exchange information, advice and support in a sociable and friendly atmosphere.
We maintain a large resource of books, leaflets and other information which is available at our meetings.

We actively campaign for improvements in the statutory services available to our children and have regular meetings with professionals in the fields of Education, Health and Social Services. We are committed to raising awareness and understanding of Autistic Spectrum Disorders in the Bristol area. The group arranges 'one day a week' playdays during school summer holidays lus family events throughout the year. There is no annual subscription however, for a one-off donation of £4 you can be entered on our database and receive regular information including a quarterly newsletter.

New Star Bristol
New Star Bristol is all inclusive judo club, one site in the north of Bristol (New Star Patchway) and one in the south (New Star Ashton), all the coaching staff have attended Coaching Disabled performers, Child Protection and Equity in your coaching. The Club is awaiting the confirmation of being awarded "Club Mark" which is the Sport England club accreditation scheme. The Head coach also runs sessions in schools for both disabled and non-disabled children, and is registered with the British Judo Association (BJA) as a schools coach.

North Avon Mencap
Avon-North Mencap works with people with a learning disability, their families and carers.
We provide support and information on a range of issues. such as healthcare, education, housing, leisure and benefits.

Avon-North Mencap Society formed duing the 1960's, although it was not then part of Mencap.It became affiliated to the Royal Society of Mencap in 1968 and was known as Mangotsfield & District Society. It later changed its name again to highlight the wide area it covered and has remained Avon-North Mencap Society ever since.

Historically the society works with people in South Gloucestershire, however we are expanding to work in parts of Bristol as well.

North Bristol Rugby club
North Bristol Rugby club is an inclusive club. They run an annual tournament is October for children form Special schools and children with Special needs/ disabilities from mainstream schools. They have achieved "Seal of Approval" which is the Rugby Football Union (RFU) club accreditation.

Bristol is launching a series of parties designed to give sports lovers the chance to meet their athletes and help the Elite Athlete Supporters Club generate funds for the support given to them by the non for profit British Athletes Commission.

The Vassall Centre Trust

Community Sport Leaders Award

English Blind Golf Association
The main purpose of the EBGA is to provide visually handicapped people with the facility to train and compete in the game of golf. Training is provided by giving new members support to receive lessons from professional golfers. In addition each year the organisation invites all members to attend a training weekend at which PGA professionals teach the various aspects of the game. Assistance is also given to schools for the blind where pupils want to start to play golf.

English Federation of Disability Sports

Football Foundation
The Football Foundation is the UK's largest sports charity funded by the Premier League, The FA, Sport England and the Government.

Inclusive Basketball Fun
Bankshot basketball is an exciting new game of skill and challenge from the USA that is often described as a "crazy golf, but with a basketball." This survey aims to amplify the voices of disabled people and their families and ensure that their experiences and opinions are heard by politicians, the media and other decision-makers. BME disabled people can experience multiple discrimination, and the Polls Apart campaign wants to make sure their voices are heard. National Small-bore Rifle Association
The NSRA is the national governing body for all Small-bore Rifle & Pistol Target Shooting in the United Kingdom, including Airgun and Crossbow Shooting.

Parasport

RFU Injured Players Foundation
The RFU Injured Players Foundation supports people who sustain a catastrophic injury (CI) whilst playing rugby. The charity provides help and support for both players and their families in the early months of these injuries as well as in the long term and incorporates the former SPIRE Rugby Trust charity.

In addition to this support, the charity takes a more active approach to conducting and supporting research and education aimed at preventing injuries; and identifying how injured players can be helped more effectively.

RNIB Family Services
RNIB Family Services officers provide support to children and young people who are blind or partially sighted and their families. Sportability, a registered charity, provides sport and challenging pursuits for people with paralysis around the UK. People with conditions such as spinal cord injury, stroke, MS and others, are able to participate in a whole range of sports - scuba diving, sailing, archery, angling, abseiling, quad-biking, gliding, canoeing, clay pigeon shooting, go-karting, land-yachting, wheelchair tennis and many more.

It is not about creating elite sportsmen and women. It is about trying something new and different. It is about the adrenaline rush, putting the buzz back into a life corralled by the wheelchair, taking the 'dis' out of disability and focusing on ability. To inspire the thought, "If I can do this, what else can I achieve?"

The Disabled Golf Society
Golf is one of the most popular participating sports and is played regularly by the widest age group. Up until now there has been is no society that accommodates the needs of the majority of disabled golfers in England. The Disabled Golf Society aim is to bring together all disabled golfers, irrespective of gender, age or ability, and help them enjoy golf on a level playing field, or in our case a level golf course! With our interactive website we are able to offer a wide variety of services from, tournaments, independent golfing breaks, handicapping, ordering any specialist equipment, special discounts, greater inclusiveness and less frustration when booking tee times.

The Gwennili Sailing Trust: Portsmouth
The Gwennili Trust was founded in 1995 to provide yacht sailing opportunities for people with disabilities. Over the years people of all ages with a wide range of disabilities whether visually impaired, with learning difficulties or of limited mobility have enjoyed the thrill of sailing on our yachts.

Our Sailing Programme ranges from simple day sails in the Solent on a wheelchair friendly catamaran to longer cruises to France and the Channel Islands on conventional yachts (weather of course permitting).

The Lord's Taverners
The Lord's Taverners is the official Charity of recreational cricket and the UK's leading youth cricket and disability sports Charity.

Sport and recreation are essential for young people and our mission is to give a 'sporting chance' to those in need.
